Since mid-June 2022, monsoon rains have brought intense flooding and destruction to the country
Monsoon season usually brings heavy rain to the South Asian country, but this year is the most severe on record. The increased rainfall led the Indus River, which runs through the country to the Indian Ocean, to overflow.
The effects are devastating. Millions were already facing food shortages, and now acres of crops have been destroyed, contributing to the crisis.
