New director of multicultural ministry announced.

Jun 27, 2017

ReachNational and Alejandro Mandes, executive director of the EFCA’s All People Initiative, announce Steven Weathers as director of multicultural ministry. He will begin serving the EFCA on August 1, 2017.

The new director of multicultural ministry role is a change from a purely ethnic focus to a multicultural role with the responsibility of serving all ethnic and immigrant ministries in the EFCA. Additionally, Steven will serve EFCA districts and churches in understanding the dynamics of race, culture and poverty.

Steven and his wife, Lisa, planted One Fellowship Church (EFCA), an interethnic, socioeconomically diverse congregation serving the North Shore/Chicago suburbs. Steven served periodically as an adjunct professor and REACH instructor at Trinity International University while completing his PhD in Intercultural Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where his interests surround how race, ethnicity and culture operate within the evangelical church.

In addition, he served as the director of the Intercultural Development Office (IDO) in Student Life at Trinity International University.

The Weathers have three children ages 12 to 18 years. They have been married 19 years and are both from Miami, Florida. Steven enjoys spending time with his wife, cheering for his children, billiards and sketch drawing.
