Marshalltown, Iowa Tornado Announcement

On July 19, 2018, an EF-3 tornado hit Marshalltown, Iowa, devastating the downtown area and a few homes in the small rural community.

An EF3 tornado with winds estimated at 144 MPH hit the community of Marshalltown, IA on Thursday, July, 19, 2018 damaging or destroying over 1000 homes. The damage varies from trees down damaging a few shingles on roofs to complete second stories completely gone. In addition, the downtown business district including its police department and city hall sustained severe damage. Pastor Bob Kosbau of the Marshalltown Evangelical Free Church and the initial response team from ReachGlobal Crisis Response surveyed the damage on Friday, July 20, 2018. Several members of Pastor Bob's church suffered damage to their homes. The church building was not damaged however their missions house and the surrounding area was greatly impacted. Church members have been helping people with clean up, assessment and sharing the love of Christ in the impacted neighborhoods.

What can you do to help?


The community is still in shock, but already a lot of clean up has begun. Please pray for rest and endurance for those already responding.
Pray for wisdom and insight for Marshalltown EFC as they navigate how best to respond to this tornado.
Pray that the Holy Spirit would be active and work in the wake of this storm and that the Kingdom would grow as a result.
