Hurricane Florence made landfall in the Carolinas on Friday, September 13 bringing with it powerful Catagory 2 winds, storm surge and devastating flooding. We serve a powerful God who can work miracles and calm storms. We know God can use even the worst of storms to bring people to Him. So a mission field is created in the wake of every crisis.
While tens of thousands of people on the East Coast are still evacuated and fearful of what they will come home to, ReachGlobal Crisis Response has responded. Our goal is to come alongside local churches as they share the love of Christ with their communities and congregations in this time of need.
What does response look like?
First, we mobilize prayer. Second, we deploy an assessment team to the region, including key staff, tools and equipment. Then, we mobilize volunteer teams to be the hands and feet of Jesus to help extend the Gospel outreach of the local church. These helpers cut trees, assist homeowners sort through their damaged belongings, gut homes, or simply listen. Because of our disciplemaking focus, ReachGlobal Crisis Response frequently commits for long term process of recovery. For updates go to our blog and follow us on Instagram.
How can you help?
- For God to be glorified even through the storm. This storm may be the physical storm or the emotional storm that is brewing inside of everyone that is in the impacted areas.
- For leaders of our churches, as they determine what their congregations and communities need, both short-term and long-term.
- For ReachGlobal Crisis Response initial assessment teams as we help churches and communities work through the next steps in ministry in the wake of crisis.
- For Gospel impact in the lives of those affected..
Storms of this magnitude severely impact churches, homeowners and entire communities. For that reason, we are asking you to prayerfully consider giving as we strategically respond.
