Ways to Serve

Elementary Educator

12-24 months

Teach a class of first or second grade children who have escaped the war in Syria.

Jump in the deep end as you learn Arabic on the job, while having the chance to show the love of Jesus to the children and their families.

This opportunity is not for the faint of heart, but the potential impact is huge. Start with an intensive primer on Arabic in Amman. Then head north to a small city near the border of Syria, where you’ll dive into teaching kids who are often new to the country. You’ll continue studying Arabic as you help the children reengage in education.

Sound daunting? It is, but it is also doable with the right support provided by other teachers and the church community.

This is not an eight-to-five kind of position. It is a place where you can change lives.

Special Requirements

  • Must raise own financial support
  • Teaching experience required
  • Experience working with children who have experienced trauma is helpful
