Director of Youth & Family Ministries

Part time role helping sixth-12th grade students grow in their faith.

Ministry description

The youth director will oversee the segment of ministry to sixth-12th grade students. He or she will seek to fulfill the mission of the church of making disciples among this segment of the church and community and helping parents and families to be disciplemakers. The youth director will seek to establish students who are rooted in the Word, growing in their faith and branching out to others with grace and truth.


  • Must demonstrate a mature and growing commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Scriptural adherence demonstrated in both knowledge and lifestyle
  • Be in agreement with the Faribault Evangelical Free Church’s Statement of Faith
  • Exhibit a passion for youth and families and a heart to see them flourish in Christ
  • Previous experience with youth ministry, teaching or related field
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and an understanding of appropriate relational boundaries
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Regular attendance and participation in Sunday morning worship services
  • Regular participation in a small group or other discipleship opportunity
  • Willing to work towards licensing with the EFCA


  • Plan and implement weekly youth ministry gatherings (currently Wednesday nights, 6-7:30 p.m.)
  • Teach weekly Sunday School class during the school year to sixth-12th-grade students
  • Attend and coordinate youth events and retreats (Spring Districts Conference, Fall Retreat, Camp Shamineau camps, lock-ins, etc.)
  • Assist pastor and children’s ministry team with children and family ministry program development and implementation
  • Facilitate service opportunities, mentoring youth, leading small group Bible studies, etc. as appropriate
  • Work in conjunction with a team of adult volunteers, helping to equip and mobilize the team that they may be most effective in building up the youth
  • Responsible for communicating with parents and families regularly
  • Regular participation in monthly youth pastor gatherings (currently second Monday of the month, 10 a.m.-noon in Stewartville, Minnesota)
  • Act as team leader for the children’s, youth and families ministry team, helping to coordinate the areas of nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Church, Kids Club, Backyard Bible Clubs and youth ministry which will include the following as needed:
    • Helping to recruit, train and resource volunteers for the above ministry areas along with their ministry leaders
    • Regularly checking in with the leaders of these ministry areas to encourage, plan, pray and support one another
    • Helping to coordinate calendar of activities for these ministries in conjunction with the overall church activities
