Occupational Therapy Internship

7-23 months

Gain practical, compassionate experience in Occupational Therapy among China's abandoned children.

In China, a ramification of the "one-child policy" is the abandonment of millions of babies. Children in China are abandoned due to several reasons including:

  • congenital abnormalities and disabilities
  • being female
  • being born into a family that already has a child
  • poverty

ReachGlobal works with a Christian non-profit NGO in China that trains doctors and gives compassion to the needy in many areas of society such as orphan care. Gain practical, compassionate experience in one of these fields with China's abandoned children.

We have a goal of getting of these children into loving, Christian foster homes. Right now there are 20 children being fostered through our organization, about half with Chinese families and about half with Western families. A majority of the children in the foster program and many of the kids we work with at the orphanages have special needs. Many of them would greatly benefit from therapy and special education.

We also work with families with children with disabilities that kept their children. There are great opportunities to serve these families, share the good news with them, and let society know that there is hope for them.

Special Requirements

  • Must raise own financial support.
  • Experience in or education toward an Occupational Therapy degree.
