Staff Writer

The EFCA national office is seeking a full-time Staff Writer responsible for writing and editing across multiple platforms to serve EFCA department leaders, as well as primary content creator for EFCA social media channels.

Duties:

1. Responsible for EFCA writing projects

  • On behalf of the Director of Communications and the EFCA Office of the President, facilitate with EFCA ministry leaders to plan, write, edit and improve content for EFCA ministries in print and online
  • Assist Videographer with storyboarding and scripting videos
  • Perform research on various topics and interpret findings into content fitting of EFCA voice and brand standards
  • Work with Director of Communications and vendors to ensure effectiveness and consistency of brand voice for EFCA media and communications (print and digital)

2. Contribute to the development and use of EFCA social media platforms

  • Act as primary writer for EFCA social media channels in cooperation with Communications team
  • Work with Director of Communications and Content Strategist to develop and publish social content on EFCA social channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), including developing and tracking benchmark criteria to measure effectiveness
  • Monitor EFCA social media channels and respond to audience posts and inquiries
  • Contribute to building engagement and strong relationships with followers of EFCA platforms
  • Partner with ministry staff in social media planning, monitoring and execution

3. Participate in advancement and fundraising efforts as primary writer

  • Craft content under the EFCA president’s name adhering to established voice and tone parameters
  • Act as primary copywriter for capital campaigns
  • Write monthly fundraising letters out of the president’s office

4. Creation of monthly email newsletters

  • Content planning, interviewing the EFCA President, and writing content
  • Solicit content from EFCA ministries and compile in newsletter format
  • Creation of newsletters via digital platform

Qualifications and Skills

  • Alignment with the mission and values of the EFCA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Writing, Journalism, or a related field and/or minimum of 1-2 years professional writing and editing experience
  • Demonstrable portfolio of both professional and auxiliary writing samples
  • Ability to write, proofread, and edit written and web-based materials at a professional level
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Strong creative bend and an ability to work with leaders to craft creative content
  • Strong sense of urgency and demonstrated ability to take initiative in independent projects and meet deadlines
  • Intermediate computer and applications skills utilizing PC or Mac: MS Office file formats/programs and Outlook; Apple/Mac OS file formats; Adobe Acrobat
  • Expert understanding of social media
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work cross-culturally
  • Ability to travel overnight approximately 5-10% to achieve the objectives of the role
