Ministry description

Crosslake Evangelical Free Church of Crosslake, Minnesota, is seeking a 30 hr/week worship leader/director to lead a ministry of vibrant, authentic, joyful, Spirit-led worship for a contemporary worship service. This person must possess a growing faith, a passion for Jesus, a love for people and a heart that desires to see God’s people become passionate worshippers of God.

Lead and embolden a body of believers with a heart for God by regularly encountering God personally and corporately.

  • Possess a growing faith, a passion for Jesus Christ, a love for people and a heart that desires to see God’s people become authentic worshippers of God
  • Skilled vocally and experienced in leading worship with a guitar and/or keyboard/piano
  • Experience and skill in working with musicians, vocalists and building worship teams
  • Experience in leading contemporary worship
  • (If applicable) Experience in leading traditional worship
  • Experience in leading a body of believers into deeper levels of worship
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to be a team player, but also a self-starter
  • Able to be in unity with church leadership’s vision for the church


  • To cultivate and lead a ministry of vibrant, authentic, joyful, Spirit-led worship
  • To teach and encourage God’s people to become genuine, passionate worshippers of God, not only at church, but wherever we go
  • To inspire, encourage and equip those with musical gifts and abilities to serve the Lord through worship
  • To ensure that our worship services remain a safe place to know, love and follow Jesus

Essential duties:

  • Seek the Holy Spirit’s leading and guiding in all worship planning
  • Develop and lead a contemporary Sunday morning service that utilizes primarily current contemporary Christian songs along with some music from past years
  • (In addition, if experience qualifies) Develop and lead a traditional Sunday morning service (in addition to the contemporary service) that utilizes hymns and praise choruses
  • Oversee and develop the youth worship team that leads worship on Wednesday nights
  • Recruit, screen, organize, train and equip individuals to serve on the worship teams
  • Efficiently plan and lead a weekly worship team rehearsal
  • Provide biblical leadership and encouragement for worship team members
  • Be available to occasionally lead worship for special events
  • Maintain healthy and timely communication with pastors, Encounter leadership and worship team members
  • Work in collaboration with the senior pastor in planning the worship service to support the preaching of the Word
  • Attend weekly staff meeting
  • Attend monthly Encounter team meeting
  • Establish and maintain consistent office hours in coordination with the senior pastor and communicate with the church office in case of emergencies
