Senior Pastor

Wellspring EFC, Mount Pleasant, Iowa

Lead the congregation “connecting people to Christ by making disciples and equipping them to serve and glorify God”.

Ministry description

The pastor will lead Wellspring in projecting and guiding its vision by providing (along with the elders) spiritual support and leadership to the church. The lead pastor will help hire and oversee church staff, intentionally disciple church elders and staff, and oversee the spiritual care and development of the members of the congregation. He will be responsible for the oversight of the spiritual content at the stated services of the church. He will oversee the observance of the ordinances of the church including baptism and the Lord's Supper.

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to the final authority and application of Scripture
  • Divinity degree from an accredited seminary (Master’s or higher preferred)
  • Agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith
  • Agreement with and accountable to the Wellspring E Free Church Constitution and Bylaws (available upon request)
  • Four years pastoral experience or comparable ministry experience
  • A candidate must be EFCA ordained or willing to seek EFCA credentials
  • Committed to discipleship, desiring believers to continually mature in their relationship with Christ while modeling what it looks like to grow as a disciple of Jesus, increasingly imitating Him in all of life
  • The pastor of the church must be of irreproachable Christian character, having a good report and a consistent devotional life (I Tim 3:1-13, Titus 1:1-9)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the congregation in its mission, which is “connecting people to Christ by making disciples and equipping them to serve and glorify God” and projecting a vision which fulfills that mission
  • Hiring and overseeing church staff
  • Intentional discipling of the elders and staff
  • Oversee the spiritual care and development of the members of the congregation
  • Responsible for oversight of the spiritual content at the stated services of the church
  • Overseeing the observance of the ordinances of the church which are baptism and the Lord’s Supper
  • Serve as administrator to support staff
  • Focus on expository preaching and teach God’s Word with clarity, passion and relevance, ensuring effective biblical teaching at every level in the church
  • Works alongside the elders to shepherd the congregation with the objective of fulfilling CPCC’s vision, mission and core values
