Senior High Youth Pastor

Ministry description

An experienced pastor with a dynamic personality who is God-directed, has a mature faith and is passionate about youth ministry. The successful candidate can lead a multi-faceted, large youth program toward Jesus and communicates effectively. He must be flexible, caring, self-motivated, creative, organized and able to lead cooperatively. He will come alongside parents in helping youth take “the next step in one’s relationship with Jesus.”


  • Godly Christian man who is above reproach (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
  • Sincerely loves people with a shepherd’s heart
  • Adherence to the EFCA Statement of Faith and committed to credentialing
  • Youth ministry as a calling, not as a stepping stone
  • Five years of experience leading a youth ministry
  • A great recruiter and equipper who surrounds himself with God-centered volunteers
  • Possesses strong organizational, communication and time management skills
  • Committed to Highland’s philosophy of mission, ministry, values and by-Laws
  • A team player on a staff that values team
  • A resourceful self-starter who is flexible in changing situations
  • Excited to commit to this position for a minimum of five years
  • Commitment to work a minimum of 50 hours weekly including worship services


  • Continue to expand a comprehensive ministry to senior high students that equips students in their faith, unleashes their giftedness and engages the disconnected; he will work closely with all student and young adult staff and under the senior pastor
  • Recruit, shepherd, train and release leaders to engage students on four campuses
  • Monitor attendance and contacts: reaching out to visitors and lapsed attenders
  • Dynamic expositional teaching that is biblical and applicable
  • A strong emphasis on equipping students to be successful in their faith as they graduate from high school and “take the next step” in their lives
  • Plan and promote ministry events and meetings
  • Cast and communicate vision
  • Plan and lead special events and trips
  • Collaborate with other ministries of the church
  • Participate in overall church ministries including: staff meetings, communion, visitation, counseling, occasional preaching/teaching, weddings, funerals, etc. as needed
