Serve, lead and direct middle school and high school students and their families in the accomplishment of the overall vision of the church.

Ministry description

The pastor of student ministries is responsible to serve, lead and direct middle school and high school students and their families in the accomplishment of the overall vision of The Chapel to grow "committed followers of Jesus Christ who live to glorify God, exhibiting fruit in their lives by building relationships with God and one another, bearing responsibilities for evangelism and discipleship, being rooted in Christ and His Word." This person is responsible to and reports to the senior pastor.

  • Be faithful—devotion to Jesus and His Church specifically at The Chapel
  • Be available—consistent involvement and reachable outside of ministry.
  • Be a disciplemaker—be committed to making disciples and making disciplemakers
  • Have an understanding of the challenges facing student and parents
  • Be able to lead and oversee adult leaders
  • Keep healthy boundaries—in work habits, lifestyle choices, dress code and relationships
  • Have a servant’s spirit
  • Be a student of Scripture


  • Commit to the overall theology (EFCA Statement of Faith), purpose and philosophy of The Chapel
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ministry experience evidencing ability to effectively fill this position
  • Good communications skills
  • Be licensed or willingness to get licensed in the EFCA
  • Adequate competency with computers, music, video, lighting and audio/visual technology
  • Ability to work within and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to be effective in counseling students and parents
  • Good written and verbal skills


  • Knowing God’s Word and demonstrate skills in teaching and living it
  • Relational ministry with all ages, both genders and a full spectrum of students and adults
  • Design and execute programs that make disciples and disciplemakers of students, utilizing Sunday mornings, youth groups, special event, retreats and mission trips
  • Recruit, train and equip adult leaders to serve as disciplemakers to students
  • Regularly teach either the middle or high school Sunday morning class
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Keep regular office hours
  • Oversee and direct the student ministry administrative assistant
  • Participate in EFCA national and district student ministries events and gatherings
