Pastor of Family Ministries

Provide cohesive and integrated leadership in family ministries inspiring growth and development of followers of Christ.

Ministry description

This is a unique opportunity for a leader to make an impact for Christ in our community and within our congregation as part of a gifted, humble and supportive pastoral team. The ideal candidate will provide cohesive and integrated leadership for all ministries to those birth-18 years of age; they will excel at working with, connecting and inspiring the congregation; they will focus on partnering with parents in the growth of children into devoted followers of Christ and incorporating them into the broader church.


The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in ministry from an accredited school and they will have or be seeking an EFCA ministerial credential.


General pastoral responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the pastoral team meeting regularly to coordinate ministries
  • Collaborate in the planning and implementation of the preaching ministry and worship services
  • Provide pastoral care in conjunction with other pastors, elders and Stephen ministers
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to provide leadership in sync with the mission and vision of the church
  • Work with other pastors in the assimilation of visitors and regular attendees
  • Shepherd and equip parents for the task of godly parenting
  • Create family-friendly events
  • Lead, recruit, train and motivate ministry teams and volunteers
  • Identify and invite potential students into confirmation and youth ministries

Youth ministry responsibilities (ninth-12th grade)

  • Create a compelling environment for youth and be gifted at connecting with high schoolers
  • Teach (or oversee the teaching of) students providing doctrinal, life and apologetic instruction
  • Organize regular, weekly youth meetings; four to six fun events per year, and an annual mission trip that catalyzes, galvanizes and energizes the group
  • Communicate with parents and hold at least three parent meetings per year
  • Form relationships with students, counseling and mentoring them as necessary

Confirmation responsibilities (seventh-eighth grade)

  • Instruct the two-year confirmation program on Sunday mornings
  • Run a confirmation/youth retreat
  • Coordinate ‘Confirmation Sunday’ and the annual celebratory banquet
  • Oversee the monthly middle school ministry (Fusion)

Children’s ministry responsibilities (sixth grade and below)

  • Provide oversight and accountability of ministries along with volunteer ministry supervisors
  • Support volunteer ministry supervisors in their weekly ministries
  • Assist ministry team with larger children’s ministry events (VBS, Camp, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.)
  • Provide oversight of summer Sunday School program
