Children’s Pastor/Children’s Ministry Director

Christ Community Church, Pinehurst, North Carolina

Oversee aspects of ministry to children including staff development and training in a large church setting.



  • The ideal candidate for this role will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A seminary degree with EFCA Licensure is preferred


  • The ideal candidate will have at least two years of full-time experience working in children’s ministry and/or other related ministry area at a medium to large church (1000+) with multiple services
  • Experience recruiting, developing, managing, training, equipping and retaining volunteer teams and staff

  • Possess a successful track record of intentional discipleship and character consistent with biblical leadership
  • Have a heart for children and a passion to see every child spiritually discipled through the children’s ministry
  • Be a relational multiplier who is approachable, teachable and flexible with the ability to recruit, develop and inspire teams of volunteers and staff
  • Be a self-motivated leader who thinks creatively, takes initiative, is adaptable and troubleshoots without micromanaging
  • Be a proven project manager who is diligent with strong attention to detail, great administrative and time management skills, excellent supervisory skills, and the ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve
  • Be a collaborative and energetic leader who enjoys being part of a team and has the ability to supervise and work alongside different personalities
  • Be an articulate communicator with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills


Our ideal candidate for children’s pastor/children’s ministry director will achieve the following goals during the first twelve months of work:

  • Affirm and apply the doctrine, mission, vision and culture of Christ Community Church
  • As a leader of leaders, provide leadership, guidance and training to the children’s ministry coordinator, children’s ministry assistant and childcare coordinator
  • Be a champion of family discipleship, working in partnership with the student pastor, to create a comprehensive scope and sequence for discipling children in their faith
  • Provide visionary direction, energetic leadership and innovative strategy to the children’s ministry (CM) environments to create a relevant program in an attractional environment where kids are excited and looking forward to attending CM’s weekend programming
  • As a relational multiplier, provide pastoral care and support to children, their families and CM volunteers
  • Plan and execute engaging, meaningful CM discipleship programs, activities and events
  • Utilize technology and other social media outlets to communicate with parents and volunteers
  • Develop and oversee the financial stewardship of the CM budget
  • Ensure the safety, security, well-being and intentional discipleship of all CM children and develop, implement and train CM staff and volunteers in those areas
