Associate Pastor

Serve the local church by preaching and providing pastoral care.

Ministry description

Antioch Church in the Countryside YMCA is looking for an associate pastor. His main job responsibilities will center on preaching (roughly 30 percent of time) and pastoral care for our local church. He will preach clear, engaging, God-honoring, gospel-centered Biblical expositions with relevant application to all age groups. He will also meet the needs of the local church by being available to meet with the members and attenders of Antioch for counseling (pre-marital, marital, crisis, parenting).

Qualifications

  • Fulfill the biblical qualifications of 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Undergraduate degree required; further education encouraged; seminary degree not required but would be a plus
  • At least five years full-time ministry experience; candidates not meeting this qualification will be taken on a case-by-case basis
  • Have a proven track record of committed, compassionate and effective pastoral oversight
  • Counseling experience
  • Preaching experience
  • Theological alignment with Antioch’s statement of faith, constitution and bylaws

Responsibilities

Preaching

  • Preach during both services on Sunday mornings; the associate pastor will preach approximately 30 percent of the time.
  • Preach clear, engaging, God-honoring, gospel-centered Biblical expositions with relevant application to all age groups
  • Connect with the church body at Antioch in an appropriate way to challenge them with the truths of the Scriptures

Congregational care and shepherding

  • Meet the needs of the local church by being available to meet with the members and attenders of Antioch
  • Provide personal, pre-marital, marital, crisis and conflict resolution counseling in a safe and non-intimate setting, being aware of his limitations and referring to professionals when necessary
  • Lead the membership process at Antioch, including the scheduling and leadership of classes and follow-up with current members

Team member at Antioch

  • Be a model of servant leadership to the body at Antioch, both on Sunday mornings as a visible servant leader and all throughout the week
  • Seek to be an encourager, teammate and helper to our church leadership and members throughout the various aspects of ministry at Antioch
  • Identify, motivate, mentor, equip, train, and oversee officers, staff and volunteers for ministry in the church
  • Consistently participate in a community group, discipleship group and/or Bible study within the church and/or community
  • Develop an evangelistic presence within the Y and the Lebanon Community
  • Participate in Antioch staff functions
  • Be willing and available to meet the needs of the Antioch members and ministries
