Associate Pastor

Ministry description

Our new associate pastor will join our lead pastor to form a pastoral team, serving and shepherding the body of Hills View in a variety of ways. The associate pastor is one who is called to church ministry, loves people, and has a passion for evangelism, outreach, teaching, discipleship and missions. This role will have a distinct component of administration, coming alongside Hills View’s current church ministries, connecting members of the body, and continuing outreach in the Piedmont Valley and Black Hills community. The ideal candidate truly loves the Lord, is highly competent, proactive, creative and genuinely loves people.

Qualifications

  • Emulates the biblical description of a mature Christian and spiritual leader in 1 Tim 3
  • Supports, promotes, and advances the core values, mission and vision of Hills View Evangelical Free Church
  • Exhibits godly wisdom
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the spiritual condition of the Hills View body of believers
  • Reflects solid foundation of biblical knowledge
  • Holds post-secondary degree or alternate experience in organizational leadership
  • Possesses spiritual gifts in the areas of leadership, discernment and administration
  • Leads with confidence and courage in a servant leadership style
  • Comes alongside others to assist in developing their gifts
  • Demonstrates experience with projects/events, which require establishing goals, assembling teams, overseeing progress, problem-solving and assessing effectiveness
  • Displays effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to assess a conflict situation, determine core issue, identify possible solutions and ascertain best remedy
  • Manages time, resources and details efficiently
  • Possesses or will pursue EFCA credentialing

Responsibilities

  • Enable the senior pastor to focus on his gifts and responsibilities
  • Assist ministry teams within the church by connecting with leaders to be aware of needs, praises and concerns
  • Assist volunteers as they develop their gifts to lead areas of ministry within Hills View
  • Represent the church to the community; coordinate volunteers to assist in current and future partnerships
  • Coordinate and oversee church office staff in day-to-day operations as directed by senior pastor and elder team
  • Seek opportunities for community involvement and outreach/evangelistic events
  • Manage communication with church family and the greater community through email, mailings, advertisements and social media
  • Oversee discipleship within the body through life groups, Bible studies, seminars, etc.; research possible study materials
  • Create and encourage opportunities for church body to connect and grow in relationship
  • Assist with home/hospital/hospice/nursing home visits
  • Counsel and disciple one on one from a biblical foundation
  • Prepare and deliver 8-10 sermons annually
  • Teach the body through seminars and/or Bible studies
