EFCA Responds to Hurricane Florence

Help us in the mission field that follows this crisis.

As coastal communities in North and South Carolina begin to rebuild and recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, EFCA ReachGlobal Crisis Response has mobilized and sent out teams to help churches and communities in the affected areas.

“This is the worst I’ve ever seen,” said Pastor Donnie, one of our local church partners, as he reviewed the damage in Florence’s aftermath. “Our community is devastated.”

The Crisis Response team is on the ground in several communities, spanning from Morehead City, North Carolina, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In Morehead City, long-term residents told Crisis Response that it was the worst storm they’d ever endured. Residents reiterated that they were in desperate need of help, and the town fathers of Swansboro, North Carolina, came to our local church partners, seeking assistance for people who had lost their homes. With three to four days of driving winds and more than 30 inches of rain, the coastal Carolinas experienced devastating flooding and damage to homes and buildings estimated to be in excess of $17 billion.

More than 250,000 homes in small North Carolina towns alone have been lost to Hurricane Florence. While giving thanks to God that the hurricane was not as devastating as some predicted, the Crisis Response team seeks to raise $250,000 — $1 for every damaged home — to serve our brothers and sisters affected by this storm. With boots on the ground and hearts fixed on Christ, Crisis Response continues to bring the gospel and practical aid to affected communities. Will you join us?
