Changing Lives in St. Louis

-by Patti Watson, Jubilee Community Church, St. Louis, MO

I can sum up my BUMP experience in one word: life-changing.  Being a site leader for BUMP St. Louis was truly a privilege and an honor. God had His hand through the whole week. The BUMP experience challenged and stretched me as a person, a Christian, and a leader.  BUMP renewed my faith in Christ and His mission to reach the children/community of North St. Louis and St. Louis.

BUMP St. Louis VBSShy Mikayla

God showed Himself real at BUMP St. Louis from the groups coming in, to the children. God truly loves children and He wants them to come to Him. One thing that stood out is that the children seemed so free to enjoy Christ, to dance, to laugh, and to have fun in the Lord. A little girl, Mikayla was so shy when she came into BUMP she did not talk, at the end, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and she danced until it was time to leave.

Praying for Jesse

The BUMP students worked together to make the curriculum work for each age group; they came up with fun and creative ways to teach Christ and connect with the kids. The boys connected with them so much, they were coming to BUMP before it started and they played basketball with them after they left. Jesse, a 14 year old, hurt his leg on the basketball court. Chris Weaver and the guys crowded around and prayed for him. The next day he came back and his leg was not hurting and Chris used it as a way to present him the gospel.

BUMP lasts forever!

Relationships really showed me that BUMP is a program about relationships and being intentional about providing a Christ-centered, compassionate, life-changing experience for the site/site leaders, the group members, the community and the children. Because of BUMP, Jubilee has seen an increase in children from the community on Wednesday nights and church on Sunday. BUMP just does not stop when then the week is over, it lasts forever!

Thank you

The BUMP experience is a lifestyle because reaching out, working for Christ, and having compassion for others is a lifestyle. I cannot thank God enough for the opportunity to serve him, to serve the groups, the children and the community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  James 1:17.
