El Paso Texas Church Plant From Its Beginnings

Iglesia Rey de Reyes familyIglesia Rey de Reyes, El Paso, Texas started in August 2003 as a multiplication of the church Iglesia Centro Biblico la Luz en Northeast El Paso. Established ten years ago, the church Centro Biblico la Luz has its own building, sanctuary, parking, classrooms, 27 families, a pastor, co-pastor and four leaders.

Located on the west side of El Paso, Iglesia Rey de Reyes meetings started with about 25 people; Pastor Jose Luis Reyes and his family, the families of three of his children, three additional families, a pastor and four more leaders.

Iglesia Rey de Reyes met at the YMCA for approximately two years. When 45 people were regularly attending, Iglesia Rey de Reyes obtained 2.8 acres of land that included a small building (that had previously been a tennis club). The members enlarged the building, made the kitchen larger and more useful and built four classrooms.

Iglesia Rey de Reyes familyNow between 75 and 80 people attend on Sunday (and on special days up to 100 people). The entire space will hold about 120 people. Plans exist to construct a new church which will have a capacity for more than 300 people, with God’s blessing!

With these blessings the Iglesia Rey de Reyes community knows they have a great responsibility to share the Gospel in their community where the Hispanic population is more than 70%. They ask for prayers that God continues to keep moving them forward with the work He has given them to do.
