Church Planting Opportunities

Multiplying church plantsThe EFCA Southeast District represents nine states, 63 million people and many growing cultural population groups.  Currently, there are 65 churches and 15 new church starts in this district.  The opportunities for new church starts are endless, and the district is growing in contacts in each state desiring a new EFCA disciple making church.

IMMEDIATE NEED

New Orleans Metro (ReachNOLA 2012)

This is an area still spiritually devastated that desperately needs healthy disciple making churches to reach, equip and send.  There are neighborhoods that do not have a church. In partnership with other ministries, the focus will be to use work teams to rebuild, assist church planters in evangelism, serving the people in these communities to gather people for new churches.  EFCA’s TouchGlobal Ministries and two churches already exist in the New Orleans metro area.  The harvest field in New Orleans is plentiful!

We are praying for ten church planting couples to be identified starting the process of gathering people by the summer of 2012.  In 2012, EFCA ReachStudents will host the Challenge Conference when 4,000+ students and leaders will visit New Orleans.  The students and the leaders will focus on assisting the church planters and serving other ministries for one week.  There will be an opportunity for some funding next summer. Currently, we have three church planting pastors already confirmed. Come to New Orleans and join in what God is doing!

Additional Opportunities in the Southeast District

Greenback, Tennessee

A core of 30 plus people in Greenback, TN, are beginning to form a church.  They are ready to launch and need leadership.  The group would like to be led in disciple making skills and launching other church starts. The area has a small town feel with a large bedroom community of homes.  There are almost 11,000 people within five miles of where they are getting ready to meet.  There is a network of seven regional churches spread out over 40 miles that get together regularly.

Alcoa, Tennessee

A church planter on the ground has gathered 25 people.  Right now he is looking for team members to fill ministry teams to work toward gathering more people for a launch in September.  This would be a good opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new launch or for an internship.  Go to www.declarehope.org for more information.

Brandon, Florida

Brandon is a growing bedroom community for Tampa, FL full of new stores, shopping malls and new schools.  There is a military base nearby where a number of families work as civilians so the economy is stabilized.  The city of Brandon has 61,000 people. It is expected to grow by another 9,000 people by 2015.  Two experienced and mature lay couples who have been in church starts before are committed to making this new location work.  One is an African American couple so you are blessed with a multicultural church start right away—a terrific opportunity.
