For Students
Phase 1
How to get started
Students should contact their EFCA district to see if there is an EFCA GATEWAY site in the area or write to gateway@efca.org. The student will then begin Phase 1 of GATEWAY, a 14-16 month course of study based on the EFCA Statement of Faith. The steps in that process are:
- Attend the EFCA GATEWAY informational meeting and/or Orientation in your area.
- Facilitator will distribute information about online registration; register online and pay tuition—$300 in most districts. If paying by check send check made out to EFCA to: EFCA GATEWAY, P.O. Box 1223, Helotes, TX 78023. Put the students name in the memo line.
- After registration and tuition payment is confirmed a GATEWAY manual will be sent to the student’s home (7-10 days).
- Purchase the required textbooks: Evangelical Convictions and Bible Doctrine, by Wayne Grudem.
- Prepare for each class by reading assigned material and writing a paper to bring to class.
- Attend classes for the duration of the course (attendance at classes is vital!), submit all work and participate in classes.
- Graduate from Phase 1 after fulfilling all requirements.
- Students interested in EFCA credentials can apply for a License Leading to Certificate.
- For those interested in ordination (permanent credentials) apply for Phase II GATEWAY.
Applications and documents
For those who can’t use the online registration process, the student application included below can be completed and sent along with tuition payment to EFCA GATEWAY, P.O. Box 1223, Helotes, TX 78023.
Phase II GATEWAY
How to get started
Students who have successfully completed GATEWAY Phase I qualify for Phase II when it is being offered in their district. Other students may enter if they receive permission from the director of the GATEWAY location. For example, someone who has previous education and ministry experience in the EFCA would not necessarily need to take GATEWAY Phase I.
