Chris Holck

Chris HolckRev. Chris Holck served three EFCA churches from 1986-2008.  Prior to that, he was in business for seven years as an agricultural loan officer, a director of training and a family farmer in Iowa.  Chris’ interest in older adult ministry was sparked while serving in his last church—located in a resort area and filled with seasonal attenders.  He realized this church, and he would later learn his denomination as well, needed a better way of ministering to the new wave of "older adults."

Along with his wife, Kathleen, he has been on a steep learning curve the last few years seeking to learn all he can about the generational uniqueness of the Builder and Boomer generations.  The goal has always been to help the local church do a better job of reaching and unleashing older adults for the Kingdom.

Chris resigned as senior pastor from Faith EFC in Spirit Lake, Iowa, in January 2008 so he could conduct a sabbatical study for the EFCA.  Out of that study, a new ministry was birthed called EFCA ENCORE.  This ministry exists to reach and unleash older adults for the cause of Christ during their encore years of life.  The fulfillment of his passion and vision comes when older adults in churches are fully alive in their faith and serving the Lord with the gifts God has given them.

Chris now serves as the director of EFCA ENCORE.  He also started his own organization called Encore Generation, Inc. which seeks to assist Christian organizations in understanding and reaching the next generation of older adults.

Chris and Kathleen have begun a new adventure—planting a new church in The Villages, Florida.  The church will have a unique focus on Boomers and Beyond.
