Honduras
Honduras is similar in both land area and population (just over 8 million people) to the State of Virginia, but the estimated per capita GDP for Honduras is less than 1/10 of Virginia’s. One of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, about 65% of the population lives in poverty.
Education is compulsory up to 6th grade, and many children and teenagers drop out of school shortly thereafter. Many people lack the education and skills they need to obtain a job or successfully start their own business.
Ministry focus
The ReachGlobal Latin America ministry in Honduras currently focuses on reaching people with the gospel through small business development training and projects. The training not only teaches the technical skills many people need to provide financially for themselves and their families, it also is a platform for sharing the gospel and biblical principles for managing a business and a budget.
The missionaries serving in Honduras work alongside other Christian partners, including The Micah Project and a local Evangelical Free Church [see related story], in both business development and other compassion ministries in Tegucigalpa.

Serve
There are many needs in Honduras. Contact us if you are interested in serving in Honduras long term so that we can discuss how your passion and gifting would best fit the ministry.
Pray
- For the Evangelical Free Church of Honduras: In October, the house church will begin to divide its Friday night service into two smaller groups. Pray for a smooth transition in this first stage and for the different groups to remain connected to one another and open to new members.
- For the country: Human rights violations have become all too common, and Honduras has one of the highest homicide rates in the world. Pray for people to know Christ, love the Lord their God and love their neighbor as themself.
- For our ReachGlobal missionaries: Pray for God’s provision so that they may remain in Honduras long term.
