Prayer Focus for Central Asia
Now is the time to pray.
The people of Central Asia while ethnically mixed have a common religion in Islam. In the past, this common religion has kept Central Asians closed from gospel witness. Decades of strife have opened Central Asia to opportunities for Christians to incarnate the gospel of Christ.
Governments and country leadership are now open to business platforms that meet community needs ranging from English teaching to small businesses to medical and community development programs.
The church grows slowly. In some places small house fellowships exist. However, most believers chose to live in anonymity and isolation due to the fear of reprisal.
Presently Islam is resurging in Central Asia. The window of opportunity for gospel witness may be closing. Now is the time to pray.
Praise and pray
- Praise God for present windows of opportunity to enter previously closed countries.
- Pray for the development of legitimate business and community platforms that will add value to Central Asian communities and give opportunities for gospel witness.
- Pray that gospel witness will be culturally sensitive and demonstrate God’s love.
- Central Asians value extended family relationships. Pray for opportunities to incarnate the gospel and witness to whole families.
- Pray that gospel witness will result in new believers, discipleship, leadership training and ultimately a local church movement.
