Ever wonder what rural church planting is like for ReachGlobal national partners? Read these snippets from the lives of rural church planters:
Ed and Liza
Ed and Liza, a rural national church planting couple, live in a small town where a mountain collapsed in 2006, burying almost half of the city with many people buried alive. Ed decided to go back to his home area to minister to these people who had lost so much. Part of Ed and Liza’s ministry outreach is lending money to help people get small businesses started.
- Praise God that, in just two years, at least 10 cell groups have been started as a result of Ed and Liza’s ministry.
- Pray for the people to have a continuing desire to grow spiritually.
Donal and Jenilynn
Last year, Donald and Jenilynn, a rural national church planting couple, lost all their possessions when the whole city where they were living became submerged in water because of a major typhoon in the area. But God provided for Donald and Jenilynn through the generosity of believers from a neighboring area. In turn, Donald and Jenilynn, in spite of their own loss, shared what they received with their needy neighbors. Several of these neighbors have since become followers of Christ.
- Praise God for the witness of Christ through generous sharing.
- Pray for spiritual growth among new believers.
Gerry and Lynn
Gerry and Lynn, a rural national church planting couple, live on an island that is so small that the water coming from wells is salty, so drinking water is brought in by boat. In addition, there is no electricity on the island. Gerry, a town officer, is very good at evangelism. Lynn teaches in the local kindergarten program.
- Praise God for opportunities to witness through community participation and tent-making occupations.
- Pray that the villagers would desire to have a personal relationship with God as they see God reflected in the lives of Gerry and Lynn.
