Reading Posts
A holistic platform
National field workers with whom ReachGlobal partners use reading posts as platforms to connect with people in villages that are otherwise closed to godly influence.
A national field worker enters a new village once a week for a few weeks with a backpack filled with books that can be checked out. Half of the books are children’s story books and the rest are books for older people especially parents.
As he finds a person especially interested in books and literacy, he asks them if they’d like to host a reading post in their home. If they agree, they then seek permission from the village leaders to host this reading post. They then receive 200 books that people in the community can check out and read. They are paid a monthly wage to manage this ‘library’ and the field worker visits once a week to help maintain the program and rotate books with other reading posts.
Villages are welcoming this gift of books and service, and it is an accepted way to establish relationships in an unreached community. Contact Asia to find out how you can contribute to the Reading Post ministry.
Praise and pray
- Praise God for a partnership of U.S.-based churches that are assisting in the purchase of books so that the Reading Posts are available.
- Pray that our father will open the way to the hearts of the local people in the villages.
- Ask God to give the national field workers the ability to know and meet the people whom God has chosen for them to work through in each village.
