Modeling and Mentoring
Coming alongside national workers
Ever wonder what "coming alongside national workers" actually means? These are praise items from ReachGlobal staff in the Philippines on "summer break" from teaching at Evangelical Theological College of the Philippines (ETCP):
- Engaging pastors: "A push to get questionnaires ready and a last minute delivery of books from Manila came together just in time to engage pastors regarding the disciple-making activities they are doing in their churches."
- Engaging the church: "We joined in leadership planning meetings at our church. Pray with us that we will be effective in carrying out the responsibility areas that were agreed upon."
- Engaging couples: "We hosted a couple’s event at our apartment. There were 14 of us who watched the movie Fireproof. In follow-up discussions, it was noted that the same types of marital tensions portrayed in the movie are present in Filipino homes."
- Engaging for missions: "After the movie we had the delight of having one of the couples share about their work among the tribes in Palawan, an island in far west Philippines. We thank God for this next generation of mission workers."
- Engaging the students: "Working with the academic dean, we created a new, by invitation only, subject called "Teaching Evangelism in an Academic Environment." By enrolling, my assistant is first in class with the evangelism students and then the two of us meet the following day for him to assist me and I mentor him."
Praise and Pray
- Praise God that the national church is committed to developing church leaders.
- Praise God for a new generation of national missionaries.
- Pray for ReachGlobal staff as they seek out ways to come alongside national leaders and workers.
