The Storm
Heavy flooding from Typhoon Ketsana severely impacted 17 EFC of the Philippines churches in the Manila area. Torrential rains and intense flooding extended to 25 provinces covering about 80% of Manila. Affecting 1.9 million people, storm scenes are reminiscent of Hurricane Katrina.
Nine months after the flood, plans for reaching a neighborhood are progressing.

The response
EFCA TouchGlobal is in the process of developing a response in conjunction with the EFC of the Philippines, ReachGlobal staff, and Allianz, the German EFC Mission. The focus of the plan will be to work through local church pastors in the affected region, caring for them, their families and church members, and then reaching out to their hurting neighbors.
There are significant short-term needs including food and temporary housing. Long-term needs will include rebuilding homes. Pray that through helping to meet these needs, people will know Jesus.
Short-term teams of carpenters are needed to help renovate a house into a ministry center.
