Meet Maxo
Maxo, in the striped shirt at right, is a Haitian whom TouchGlobal partners with as he invests in the local children by providing education for them as well as telling them of the hope they have in Christ. His school was built to hold 45 students but now there are 125!
The students pay what they can but about half
of them can’t pay at all. All 125 students can’t fit in the school building so the first and second grades are in a house that was damaged by the earthquake. Maxo has a heart to reach even more children with the gospel and to give them the best education possible.
In April 2012, with the help of TouchGlobal partners, Maxo’s school foundation was able to purchase a three acre piece of land (pictured at right) less than a mile from his current location. For the past two years the school has met in temporary buildings on a “borrowed” piece of property and were not allowed to build anything permanent or develop the land.
With the acquisition of this land, TouchGlobal looks forward to a new chapter in our partnership with Maxo’s Community School as we work together to look at educational needs, professional classes for the children, community gardening, and self-sustaining projects. Everyone who has traveled to Haiti with TouchGlobal has met Maxo. As he continues to look for caring ways to transform his struggling community with the gospel, TouchGlobal wants to partner with him to help in this quest.
Pray
- for Maxo, the teachers, and the students
- for ReachGlobal staff members, Ashlee and Mario, as they invest in the lives of the teachers and students to further God’s Kingdom
- for future plans to start a chicken and vegetable farm so eggs and produce may be sold. The parents would be able to work a certain number of days to pay for their children’s schooling. Maxo would then be able to pay the teachers with the proceeds of the sale so pray for these plans to materialize!
- for teams to help get the houses in order so they can host more teams
