Japan Earthquake Relief
A major earthquake struck northern Japan (including Tokyo) on March 11, 2011, with a magnitude of 9.0 on the Richter scale. A significant tsunami was generated as a result, causing further damage along the coast. Also as a result of the disaster, a potentially devastating nuclear crisis due to unstable reactors near Japan’s coast. Death tolls are feared to be nearing 30,000 people.

What you can do
Pray
- Ask God for mercy upon the people of Japan, especially where tsunami waters have done great damage.
- Ask God to give us, as His church, wisdom and sensitivity to know how to move quickly to give aid and comfort to the many who have been affected.

Initial response
TouchGlobal is assessing the situation with a focus on:
- Establishing reliable communications with our ReachGlobal staff on the ground;
- Responding to offers of assistance, and communicating the urgent need for immediate and long term giving to support the response.
- Traveling to Japan to assess the situation.
- Identifying potential partner ministries in Japan.
- Coordinating with other international faith-based crisis response and NGO’s (non-government organizations).
