Hurricane Irene is long gone but the flood-wrought devastation that she left will be with the Northeast in America for years.

The Susquehanna River flooding has left thousands stranded and many more thousands fighting mud and water in their homes in Pennsylvania and New York.

In Texas, the fires have been a problem for six months. At Bastrop Bible Church, ten of fifty families in the church have lost their homes to raging fires in a county where 1,386 homes have been burned to the ground. The Texas Forest Service has responded to 181 fires that have burned over 118,000 acres.

A ministry leader from Hershey EFC says, "The flooding in Central Pennsylvania has been devastating for some and a mere nuisance for others. Hershey Free and other churches have had the opportunity to bless many folks, both from the church and outside of the church in recovery. Please pray for open hearts to the gospel and for God to lead us! We are sending out teams a couple of times per week to help with clean-up and many homeowners and local officials have really been overwhelmed that we would help! But what else can we do when God has been so kind to us?"

FloodPray

  • For those ministered to in the wake that follows these three crises, that they might feel God’s love in the midst of their crisis.
  • For the ten families in Bastrop Bible Church in Bastrop, Texas, who have lost everything. Pray for another three families who are in the path of the fire. Pastor Oliver says, "this has been a slow developing train wreck, and we’re just now trying to climb out of the wreckage." Pray for the ministry that will come in the wake of this crisis.
  • For the EFC of Hershey work teams being organized to go out and help church members and their neighbors with cleanup.
