VBS - Stories & Status

2012 VBS Project

In 2011, parents in the U.S. were expected to spend an average of $600 preparing their kids for school.

In developing countries, going to school is a privilege. In fact, school isn’t even an option for every kid around the world.

  • 67,000,000 primary school age children do not attend school.
  • 793 million adults worldwide cannot read these words.
  • Girls are 4% less likely than boys to complete primary school.
  • 1 in 5 girls in developing countries, who enroll in primary school, never finish.

Many children are not able to go to school because their parents are unable to pay the enrollment fees or buy them uniforms, books or supplies.

These very needs will be provided with the School Toolz project for kids around the world, including:

  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • India
  • Myanmar
  • Haiti

The typical cost per student in GlobalFingerprints locations is $50 per student ($30 for books and supplies and $20 for a uniform).

Offerings collected during VBS will give vulnerable children around the world an opportunity to go to school.
