Health Care

An important part of the ministry of EFCA TouchGlobal is the provision of health care. Following are some of the ways TouchGlobal is engaging in this significant area of outreach, touching lives.

Tandala Medical Outreach

Tandala HospitalStarted in 1955, Tandala Hospital serves as the main hospital for nearly 500,000 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This hospital also manages 35 outlying health centers that supply medical assistance to the people of central Africa. With civil unrest, economic hardship and the tragic dilemma that Africa accounts for 70 percent of AIDS cases worldwide, the opportunity and challenge for the global Church is tremendous.

You can help Tandala!

Tandala Hospital accepts rolled bandages made from old bed sheets. Congregations in the U.S. donate their sheets, or hunt for old sheets at garage sales, which are cut, sewn and rolled into bandages. These bandages are then shipped to Tandala.

Central African Republic

ReachGlobal started its ministry in Central African Republic (CAR) in 1997 with a primary focus on the Fulani, a nomadic folk Islamic people group spread over 19 central, western African countries. The main goal of this ministry is to evangelize, disciple and train Africans so they can multiply healthy churches among their people.

Ministry in CAR

One way ministry to the Fulani takes place is through a hospital in Gamboula, Cameroon. EFCA TouchGlobal has come alongside the national church to help with medical work by:

  • Sending several containers of medical supplies and one Alpha Jeep for Fulani ministry.
  • Tending to 450 surgical procedures, 650 deliveries, 10,000 outpatient visits, 2,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 inpatient days annually.
  • Providing an active public health program serving 24 villages focusing on child wellness visits and prenatal care.
  • Supporting a three-year nursing program where health professionals help teach in French.
  • Assisting with a nutrition program, along with a garden for the practical training of mothers.

With 15% of the country HIV positive, there also is an active AIDS ministry with counseling, ongoing education and various ministries to teach and train the people.
