2010 VBS Project

Words 4 Life

Congo SSSS Classroom

Can you imagine not having your own Bible? Can you imagine a church where the pastor is the only person with their own copy of the Scriptures? Can you imagine Sunday School classes where the teacher has no resources except what they remember from previous sermons? This is the situation in Congo where GlobalFingerprints is located.

  • Only 1 in every 50 people has a Bible. That is only 2%! ONLY 2% of people attending church have their own copy of God’s Word.
  • There are 1.2 million people, 971 Congolese Evangelical Free Churches, 800 pastors, 150,000 members, with at least 300,000 attenders and less than 10,000 Bibles.
  • The typical Congolese person makes less than $100 per year.
  • A Bible costs about $10 (with shipping) – which is 10% of their annual income. This is equivalent to a Bible costing $4,000 if you make $40,000 a year.
  • Bibles are available in country, but not readily available locally even if one can find the money.

Words 4 Life is the GlobalFingerprints 2010 VBS Project. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to provide Bibles and Sunday School Flannelgraphs from Kids Around the World.
