800 orphans sponsored as of 4/1/2009!

Story of Makango Mondende

makangoLast month, Makango came to our office with his supervisor. What happened to him? He had a back problem. Makango fell from a tree five years ago, and his back has hurt him for many years. We sent him to Tandala Hospital. He met with a doctor and was sent to X-ray for diagnostic tests. The doctor discovered that his spinal column has problems due to that fall from a tree.

The doctor gave him some medicine, and he was sent back to his village that can only be reached by canoe. Makango will then return and be cared for at Tandala for up to 6 months.

We want to thank sponsors for the good things they are doing for orphans here in Congo. This program is solving many problems in children’s lives. A couple of years ago we had another similar problem which concerned Mohammed who broke his leg. If it wasn’t for GlobalFingerprints, he would have been handicapped for the rest of his life.

We are also thankful for the good job of the supervisors who watch over all of the children, and for the GlobalFingerprints team here in Congo who minute-by-minute make good decisions concerning children’s health.

VBS Giving to GlobalFingerprints

motorcyclesAs a result of the VBS project last summer, two motorbikes have made it to Congo! Pastor Deolo, who oversees all of the HIV and AIDS projects of the Congolese EFC, has received one. Mama Lopango, the GlobalFingerprints program manager, has received the other. They are thrilled and grateful, and the bikes will greatly help them in ministry throughout the 27 regions of CECU (the Congolese EFC).

The 2009 VBS project for this summer is "Shoe ME" – buying shoes for the orphans. Please go to the GlobalFingerprints Web site and look under "Resources." From the site, you will be able to download a flyer and more information.  Encourage your church to get involved this summer!

GlobalFingerprints Champions Needed

GlobalFingerprints is currently sponsoring 800 orphans. Is that great? Yes! But I always think of the hundreds - no, thousands - of children still waiting. I am looking for volunteers from different parts of the United States who would be "GlobalFingerprints Champions"… willing to represent the Congolese orphans in local EFCA churches when needed. If you are interested, please contact Rachel at globalfingerprints@efca.org. Training will be offered and display materials provided. You might not be able to bring a child home or go to Congo and care for these kids, but you can defend, represent, and stand up for them where you are!
