Training for Short-term Teams

ReachGlobal conducts outstanding pre-field training for short-term ministry teams. Pre-field training is facilitated by experienced trainers through EFCA CONNECT and is done through an event called the Weekend Workshop. Read more about how EFCA CONNECT can serve your local church to send effective short-term teams into cross-cultural ministry.

Training resources

  • Getting Started, Team Member’s Manual: A preparation manual which includes preparation checklists, daily spiritual preparation, support team building, finances, travel plans, health issues, preparation assignments, and agendas for pre-field team meetings.
  • Getting Started, Team Leader’s Manual: A leader’s manual to help prepare the team spiritually, cross-culturally, interpersonally and in ministry.

Weekend Workshop

The Weekend Workshop includes Friday evening through part of Sunday. Topics include:

  • Cross-cultural skills
  • Ministry skills
  • Interpersonal skills (includes team building and conflict management)
  • Spiritual preparation

All members of a team should attend. Participating in training together is crucial for team building, unity and for any decisions made by the team during the training.

Feedback

  • "A heartfelt thank you to you and ReachGlobal… Thank you especially for making a long weekend bearable and even fun. Our eyes were opened to the task ahead, and we feel that we have a better handle on preparation." (team leader)
  • "The team expressed appreciation in several ways for your help in preparing them and how that made such a difference in dealing with adjustments and knowing what to do. Thank you." (missionary in Africa)
  • "We’re back from Budapest… I didn’t want a day to go by without thanking you for the excellent training! I can’t tell you how many times people noticed how well our team worked together, how we never complained about anything, or how flexible we seemed. I always said, ‘We had the best training!’ And it’s true. The training was what we needed to be fully prepared as a team." (team member)
