TREK7

TREK7 is an intensive summer outreach program designed to mobilize students for ministry to some of the most remote and unreached people groups in the world. Students will partner with on-the-ground missionaries to build new relationships and establish long-term churches on site. Through the program, students will be trained to effectively share their gospel story, interact with the local culture in an immediate and relevant way, and demonstrate powerfully God’s heart for the nations.

Can you go there?

TREK Asia

Buddhist focus—In Southeast Asia, God is slowly, but steadily, pulling people out of Buddhism and into his family. TREK Asia will be working with a young couple in Thailand who are seeking to multiply churches in a strategic region of the country where the majority of its population is still clinging to Buddhism, even after 100 years of protestant mission. There are over 350 million Buddhists worldwide and more than 830 unreached groups, but only 5 Christian workers for every million Buddhists.

Muslim focus—More Muslims live in South Asia than in any other region of the world. TREK Asia will have two focus teams in this region—one in Southeast Asia and one in South Asia. Each team will work in the heart of a Muslim context, serving along side ReachGlobal partners.  Participants will learn first-hand about what it takes to build relationships and multiply healthy churches in this sensitive context. There are 1.2 billion Muslims with 3300 unreached groups, but only 3 Christian workers for every million Muslims.

Hindu focus—In Kolkata, the city of Kali, worshippers offer sacrifices at the temple to appease her insatiable bloodlust. This TREK will focus on reaching out to the Hindu community in Kolkata who live at the mercy of their false beliefs – beliefs which have placed children and youth into the hands of human traffickers who exploit them.  You can make a real difference on this TREK by combatting spiritual darkness and social injustice.  There are 900 million Hindus in 2660 unreached groups,  but only 6 Christian workers for every 1 million Hindus.

TREK Europe

Western Europe has seen a dramatic shift from its Christian heritage of Martin Luther and the Reformation. Modern advancements, culture and technology do not meet the spiritual needs of the people. Young and old share a sense of longing for something that will fill their emptiness. Europe needs to know and experience the love of Christ once again! TREK Europe will work with a young church planting couple seeking to reach their city for Christ—”Young people in our city need to experience and know God’s love for them, and see genuine, authentic Christian faith lived out in real life.”

TREK USA

New Orleans—Six years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, many people there have since moved to a ‘new’ normal. Yet for tens of thousands, the impact of Katrina is still being felt. Over 45,000 Katrina-impacted properties still scar the poorer areas of the region and many families still hunger for hope and a reason to smile. While much physical rebuilding remains in the poorer areas, like the 9th Ward, TREK USA’s focus will remain on relational ministry. Capitalizing on the ministry foundation of the first five years, our team will continue to make disciples and plant churches, with a vision of seeing vibrant, faith-based communities established in New Orleans.

TREK Africa

Tribal focus—ReachGlobal’s ministry in Africa has seen tremendous growth in the last few years. We currently partner with churches and organizations in over ten different countries and have seen hundreds come to Christ in that time. On TREK Africa we will join with one of our local partners on the ground to multiply healthy churches among an unreached tribal people. There is significant need here as there are currently only 51 Christian workers for every million tribals. TBA

TREK Latin America

The spread of the gospel in Latin America is unprecedented, with growth from 16 million evangelicals in the late 1960s to over 60 million today. Yet there are over 800,000 Latin pastors and leaders who have little to no formal training. The implications of this are serious: doctrinal error, burned out leaders, and damaged believers. In a culture characterized by sensuality and promiscuity, where evangelicalism often carries a stigma and many are looking for a “quick fix” or a “feel good” religion as opposed to a long-lasting commitment to God, many Latin youth face competing messages. TREK Latin America will join with a local church planting partner to show the reality of Christ to students and youth. TBA

TREK MENA (Middle East/North Africa)

Headlines from the daily news seem to tell the story of Muslims who hate the West with growing fervor, but violence is only part of the story. The truth is that more Muslims are turning to Christ now than perhaps any other time in history. TREK MENA will team up with our staff in the Mediterranean in a key location, showing the reality of Christ to the throngs of young Muslims there who hunger for hope, transforming lives and sharing God’s heart for the nations.
