One aspect of the ReachGlobal Sandbox that ReachGlobal has been working diligently to implement is the deployment of people in their "sweet spot."  As Jim Snyder (Director of EFCA TouchGlobal) and I began working together in February, it became clear that Jim thrives in situations where he can create solutions and catalyze resources to see impact in people's lives for the Gospel through holistic ministries.  In fact, EFCA TouchGlobal has grown to be the holistic ministry it is today because Jim is so good at this.  It also became clear that many of the aspects of organizational leadership and management wore him down quickly and demonstrated an obvious miss-fit.

As it became obvious that Jim's strengths where in creating impact through creative solutions to holistic ministry needs, it also became clear that if he tried to give organizational leadership to TouchGlobal's growing ministry, he would never be able to spend time in his sweet spot.  Through a series of discussions, we decided it would be most profitable for Jim and for TouchGlobal if he was able to concentrate on his areas of strength while someone else assumed the role of organizational leader.

With that in mind, the decision was made to divide the responsibilities that Jim, alone, has carried. This will free him up to utilize his strengths and, at the same time, allow for a necessary organizational change in leadership.  Until now there has been no significant integration between TouchGlobal, LIVE⁰, short-term teams involved in holistic ministry, and stateside urban ministries that are focused on holistic needs. In light of this need to integrate, and for the purpose of continued effective ministry, we are creating a new ReachGlobal Directional Team leadership role. 

The Associate Executive Director of Holistic Ministries will oversee TouchGlobal, supervise the Director of LIVE⁰, eventually oversee aspects of holistic ministry short-term teams, and coordinate with stateside holistic ministry leadership.  We believe this will give us the best opportunity to develop a comprehensive, synergistic approach to holistic ministries around the globe.

To make it possible for Jim to work in his areas of strength as soon as possible, I will assume the role as interim Associate Executive Director of Holistic Ministries, effective immediately.  Recently, Jim and I met to talk about a number of things.  I walked out of the meeting with a list of things to do and Jim left without the long list he used to have.  The smile on his face was priceless.

Pray for both Jim and me as we work together, building on the effective ministries already established and moving toward an even greater ministry impact for the future.
