GODSIGHTINGS TELL YOUR STORY
GodSightings are the evidence of God's hand in action touching lives all across the EFCA. Let us share and celebrate God's work together! These stories are great to use in worship services, new member classes, and Bible studies. To find out more, visit http://www.efca.org/godsightings.
Dean McFadden experienced "a multiple GodSighting." Dean had been in pastoral ministry for 27 years when he was given an opportunity to do an internship in a hospital. Through that opportunity he was offered a part time chaplain position. He knew he couldn't afford to move his family for a part-time job, so he called a friend to pray. During that conversation, Dean received a second phone call from the hospital offering him a full-time position. To make such a change in a hiring decision for a hospital of 5,000 employees would generally take much time, but not if God is in the works.
When Dean and his wife started house hunting, they couldn't find a house close enough to meet the on-call expectations of the job. At one particular location they learned the elderly next door neighbor had recently died. Knowing the home would probably be on the market in the future, Dean felt compelled to walk across the street and consider the possibility. As he did a person opened the front door and called him by name. It was a woman he'd ministered to at the hospital the previous week--her mother had passed away. This was the day of the funeral, however with great presumption he asked if the house would be put up for sale. She graciously gave Dean and his wife a tour. An hour later, the woman told them to make an offer.
It turns out she was the vice president of the local bank. Two days later, they made an offer and it was accepted. Dean's multiple GodSighting led to a house not even on the market to work a job that shouldn't have been offered.

BEYOND RACIAL RECONCILIATION - Repeat
Reconciliation 101: A Handbook for Ministry Leaders by Alvin Sanders
Significant assumptions underlie attempts at reconciliation in the Christian world today. Ultimately these assumptions hinder rather than help reconciliation efforts, and unless we reshape the way we think and act, we will not take significant steps forward in a globalized world. Written for those who are trying to lead their ministry with reconciliation in mind, Reconciliation 101 offers practical principles to handle real-life problems. In this handbook, Alvin Sanders outlines an original model for managing the dynamics of difference within your Christian organization.
Order it today from NextStep Resources.
