LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE PRAYER LETTER

"And Jesus replied, this kind can only come out by prayer and fasting."

Of the many ways we can describe life and ministry, one of the most powerful and realistic is that life and ministry is a battle! We know that we are in a spiritual battle for the souls of men and women and for the Kingdom of God. As we approach the last week leading up to the Leadership Conference, it is critical that we continue battling for what is in God's heart for the Leadership Conference and for those attending.

Jesus made it absolutely clear to His disciples that there are some battles, some situations that are only resolved by the power of prayer and fasting. As we have followed Jesus' example of prayer these months leading to the conference, it is only fitting that we take seriously His charge to be committed to prayer and fasting for His work.

We thank you so much for your faithful prayers and partnership. We urge you to continue praying and even fasting for the Leadership Conference. Listed below are a number of highlights as well as ways you can pray for this critical week ahead. Let's ask God to do the unexplainable, both this week and during our time together in Minneapolis.

Please pray for the following items:

  • For God to give refreshment through Himself, His Word, and His people to those attending.
  • For God to give us a spirit of humility, brokenness, forgiveness, healing and restoration as we respond to His voice and leading in walking further into Samaria.
  • Ask God to transform us into a greater movement of "all people."
  • Pray for God to grant genuine repentance and reconciliation as we realize our sin, prejudices and unwillingness to reach out to those different than ourselves.
  • Pray for God to anoint each of our speakers, those who are giving testimonies, those leading us through powerful drama, and for God to use the Heart of the City worship team to lead us in our worship.
  • Pray for the training seminars. Pray that trainers will teach with clarity and those attending will have ears to hear and be encouraged and equipped.
  • Pray for the many special breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Pray that people would experience great community and celebration, and that they would hear from the Lord. Pray too that our sense of unity and being committed to the EFCA mission of "glorifying God by multiplying healthy churches among all people" grows unexplainably.
  • Pray for God to continue to guide the Statement of Faith discussion and process, and that He would clearly lead us in our business meeting and in the days ahead.
  • Please pray for the logistics with Grace Church, the hotels and transportation matters.
  • Please pray for travel mercies and the health of those coming to the conference.
  • Please pray for those who are coming weary and discouraged, that God would specifically minister to them as a result of our time together.
  • Pray for God's Spirit to give a hunger for and a regular practice of desperate prayer both in our formal gatherings as well as in the midst of informal encounters.
  • Most importantly, pray for God's glory to be manifested in everything we do, and for Him to be well-pleased and honored at this Leadership Conference.

Thank you so much for praying.
