EFCA CRISIS RESPONSE - KATRINA RELIEF

Hurricane Katrina response is going strong in LA. There are still entire sections of the city that are like ghost towns, and hundreds of thousands of people still suffering from the trauma of the storm and it's continued aftermath. With the magnitude of need, EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response is seeking volunteer teams for the next several years to share the love of Christ with those in need. For more information on sending a team, go to http://www.efca.org/katrina

We are also in need of long term staff for a variety of positions including administration and finance, construction project management, and skilled tradesmen who can invest their skills in the lives of others. If you are able to serve for 3 months to 3 years, please contact Mark Lewis at mark.lewis@efca.org or call (985) 893-0218.

MEDICAL PERSONNEL NEEDED FOR MONGOLIA AMAZING GER OUTREACH 2007

ReachGlobal missionaries, Mongolian believers, and members of Champaign Community EFC are teaming to conduct another Amazing Ger outreach in the towns of Huder and Yu-ruu. The successful outreach and follow-up in 2006 has created expectation among leaders and residents for our return. We are planning to set-up camp from July 24 - August 2, and will again provide medical services, organized sports, crafts, English classes, and some manual labor. In addition we pray that as the gospel is shared during evening tent-meetings, that God will reconcile sinners to Himself.

Last year, the medical service provided was a significant component of our ministry. We hope to provide this service again, and include dentist care as well. We would like a team of one doctor, one nurse, and one dentist for two locations for the entire 9 day outreach. However, even having a medical team for at least three days in each area would be a blessing. The work entails conducting an open clinic for general health examination, diagnosis, and treatment. One day would be spent making home visits. If you are a doctor, dentist, or nurse, would you ask God if He would like you to go to Mongolia to serve with us in the Amazing Ger outreach?  Contact Dr. Tom Cairns at tom.cairns@efca.org for more information.

How to Treat a Staff Infection - Resolving Problems in Your Church or Ministry Team
Anyone involved in ministry for any amount of time has probably run across staff problems. The challenge in dealing with staff problems within a Christian ministry is solving the problems in a Christian manner - and keeping a sense of humor about it all. In How to Treat a Staff Infection, Dr. Craig and Carolyn Williford take a "medical" approach to those common ministry ailments, including:

  • a stiff neck - "God always intended VBS to be two full weeks."
  • temporary paralysis - "You want me to make a decision?"
  • a flaccidity of the lips - "Got a prayer request for you: you won't believe what so-and-so did now..."
  • abnormal weight gain - "God just gave me this incredible idea...
  • and many more.

Almost every problem a ministry staff encounters is covered in this humorous and helpful book. To order, visit:
