In Ten Words
When the plans drafted were nothing more than those 10 words on a sheet of paper, Crossroads EFC (Albert Lea, MN) prophetically donated the first $10,000 to the project–more than two years prior to start of construction. After three years of vision, planning, design, permitting and prayer, work on the EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response Center in Covington, LA, has begun. Proceeding in faith with the basic building elements, help is needed to complete the building project.
Specifically needed are:
- Partners who will invest their time in prayer for the spiritual work that will flow out of the facility, (subscribe to the Reliefcast for building progress and crisis response updates).
- Volunteers specifically called to work on the building. Review our work schedule to see how you might invest your talent in the project. Carpenters, electricians, drywallers, painters, concrete finishers, flooring and tile experts, handy helpers and cooks are needed.
- Giving and resourceful people who can help provide or seek out donated commercial building materials.
TouchGlobal is the compassion ministry arm of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Its mission is to show the love of Christ to those in need to multiply healthy churches among all people. The Crisis Response Ministry, which was initiated in 2005 in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, has mobilized over 13,000 volunteers, served 5,000 families and invested over 500,000 volunteer hours of ministry in service to the local community.
While TouchGlobal Crisis Response continues to serve Katrina affected residents in New Orleans through local church partners Trinity Church in Covington, Castle Rock Community Church in Central City New Orleans, and Faith Bible Church in Slidell, LA, the ministry has grown. Over 1,250 volunteers have also responded so far to Hurricane Ike in Galveston, TX, and more are coming. TouchGlobal Crisis Response is also actively working with ministry partners in disciple-making efforts in Iowa, California, Peru, China and Myanmar.
