About Reconciliation

There’s only one God and we are made in His image. This means that we strive to view people from all walks of life through the eyes of Christ. We know that God is love and that He desires to be reconciled with us, so we start there.

In 2008, the EFCA wanted to jump start its mission "to glorify God by multiplying healthy churches among all people."  So we hired an executive director of reconciliation to lead the "among all people" part of our statement. When we say reconciliation, we don’t mean just racial.

The EFCA desires that all of its churches strive to incorporate reconciliation as the mission of God in our fallen world. We want churches that cross ethnic, poverty, gender, age, and disability lines. Basically, any line that divides people - we just ask that you’re open to exploring what it looks like to reverse division, multiplying Kingdom growth.

From a remarkable relationship with Jesus Christ, the Great Reconciler, we believe that a corresponding one should follow, which involves loving our neighbor as ourselves.  And we believe that both relationships are initiated by God.   An effective faith boils down to being able to live out these two vital relationships in a way that is noticed by those who don’t know God. This leads to fulfilling our Lord’s great command to make disciples of all nations.

Understand differences and look to unravel prejudices and stereotypes while seeking what we all have in common…our brokenness and need for Jesus Christ. The first step of the church in a deeply broken world is not strategy, but prayer. If this is your passion, sign up to receive the prayer letter of EFCA Samaritan Way at samaritanway@efca.org.
