Luther and Lanita Eatman Bridge of Hope Community Church Kansas City KSFocusing on a group of people regarded as not valuable and unproductive to the community, Pa. Luther Eatman, Bridge of Hope Community Church, Kansas City, KS, talked about loving and focusing upon the welfare and souls of all people as he accepted the 2009 Urban Church Planter of the Year Award.

Bridge of Hope Community Church began in July of 2003 in the northeast area of the city. Serving among the alcoholics, drug addicts, ex-convicts, homeless, uneducated and the dysfunctional families–a group of people shunned by society and the church, their mission statement is, "Transform the minds of the community by building bridges through the love of Christ." They focus upon establishing relationships with the lost by showing compassion, believing through the love Christ minds will change and hearts will be convicted to repentance. Pa. Luther comes from this background and shared that John 3:16 became real to him based upon this concept. Their core values are:  compassion, humility, relationships, integrity, service and transformation.

God has established transitional living facilities within the ministry. The Healing House which includes four houses for single women and an apartment complex for women with children and the Straight and Narrow a house for single men. The facilities serve about 65 men and women focused on the discipleship process of leading people to Christ and helping them to mature in their Christian walk.
