Appreciating Your Pastors and Church Staff for Years to Come

When thinking of ways to show your appreciation for your pastors and church staff, why not think of helping them save for retirement?  When a church decides to contribute to retirement for its pastors and staff, it is helping them plan for the future and encouraging them in their ministry today.

The FCMM Retirement Plan often hears from its participants how important and appreciated those contributions are.  When Chaplain Highland Goodman began as a 28 year old rookie pastor, retirement planning was not a high priority for him.  But the leadership team at his first church wisely included a retirement contribution as part of his benefit package.

“They told me that one day I might appreciate the decision that they had made on my behalf.  They were right!” Chaplain Goodman says.  “Now that I am approaching retirement age, I am so grateful for the foresight of my first church and their desire to provide the future needs of their new pastor.”

You can demonstrate your appreciation for your pastors and other staff members in a very practical way by helping them plan for eventual retirement life and ministry.  Encourage your church’s leadership to make a retirement contribution part of the church’s annual budget.
