The Credentialing Process. The credentialing process normally precedes endorsement. Credentialing is the process described in the EFCA booklet "Steps Toward Credentialing" which a potential minister must take in order to be ordained or licensed for leadership and recognized ministry of the church. The purpose of a ministerial credential is (1) to affirm God's call upon a person's life; (2) to verify that this person meets the qualifications and standards for ministry in the Evangelical Free Church; (3) to approve this person for ministerial under the auspices of the EFCA; and (4) to provide legal status in the exercise of that person's ministry. Without deliniating all the guidelines in this Webpage, those wishing to be endorsed must follow the steps toward credentialing specified in accordance with the booklet through their local church and the District in which they desire to begin supervised ministry. A copy of the booklet may be obtained through the Free Church Office by contacting Rev. Greg Strand, Director of Biblical Theology & Credentialing, gstrand@efca.org or by contacting the Director, Chaplain Ministries, rbebee@efca.org.
